Although environmental pollution can be caused by natural events, the word pollution generally implies that the contaminants have an anthropogenic source \u2014 that is, a source created by human activities. Pollution is often classed as\u00a0<a title=\"Point source pollution\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Point_source_pollution\">point source<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a title=\"Nonpoint source pollution\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nonpoint_source_pollution\">nonpoint source pollution<\/a>.
