Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu<\/b>\u00a0(born 9 August 1975) is an Indian actor, producer, media personality, and philanthropist who works mainly in\u00a0Telugu cinema<\/a>. He has appeared in more than 25 films, and won\u00a0several accolades<\/a>\u00a0including, eight\u00a0Nandi Awards<\/a>, five\u00a0Filmfare South Awards<\/a>, four\u00a0South Indian International Movie Awards<\/a>, three\u00a0CineMAA Awards<\/a>, and one\u00a0IIFA Utsavam Award<\/a>.[3]<\/a><\/sup>[4]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0He also owns the production house\u00a0G. The younger son of veteran Telugu actor\u00a0Krishna<\/a>, Babu made his debut as a child artist in a cameo role in\u00a0Needa<\/i>\u00a0(1979), at the age of four, and acted in eight other films as a child artist. He made his debut as a lead actor with\u00a0Rajakumarudu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1999) which won him Nandi Award for Best Male Debut. Babu achieved his breakthrough with the supernatural drama\u00a0Murari<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2001), and the action film\u00a0Okkadu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2003). He went on to act in other commercially successful films such as\u00a0Athadu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2005),\u00a0Pokiri<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2006),\u00a0Dookudu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2011),\u00a0Businessman<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2012),\u00a0Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2013),\u00a01: Nenokkadine<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2014),\u00a0Srimanthudu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2015),\u00a0Bharat Ane Nenu<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2018),\u00a0Maharshi<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2019), and\u00a0Sarileru Neekevvaru<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(2020).\u00a0Pokiri<\/a><\/i>\u00a0held the record of being the\u00a0highest-grossing Telugu film<\/a>\u00a0while\u00a0Sarileru Neekevvaru<\/a><\/i>, his highest grosser, collected over\u00a0\u20b92.6 billion\u00a0at the\u00a0box office<\/a>.[5]<\/a><\/sup>[6]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Referred to in the media as the\u00a0Prince<\/a>\u00a0of Tollywood, he is one of the most popular and influential actors of Telugu cinema,[7]<\/a><\/sup>[8]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0and is described as the superstar of Telugu cinema by his fans.[9]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In addition to being an actor, he is a humanitarian and philanthropist – he runs a charitable trust and non-profit organisation, Heal-a-Child.[10]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0He is also associated with\u00a0Rainbow Hospitals<\/a>\u00a0as their goodwill ambassador.[11]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0He plunged into the film exhibition business along with Narayandas Narang of Asian Group with the inauguration of the seven-screen superplex at Gachibowli AMB Cinemas.[12]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n
